One Foot In and One Foot Out

One Foot In and One Foot Out

Introduction

I don’t know about you but it is hard being in this world and not getting involving in the things of the world. However, the word of God instructs us in 1 John 2:15 “not to love the world or the things of the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in. Unfortunately many of us including myself are so caught up in this world that we have one foot in and one foot out. If we want to elevate in the Kingdom of God, our two feet must be fully in the Word of God. Despite the temptations and all of the worldly possessions, you have to be remained focused and keep your eyes on God.  You do not need to be a lukewarm Christian in which you are neither hot nor cold. Be holy and true to the word of God.

What causes only one foot in?

Many of us are torn between the world and the word. We are torn between faith and fear. We are torn between belief and unbelief. We are torn between greed and content. We are torn between forgiveness and forgiveness. We are torn between love and hate. We are torn between jealousy and being happy for others. Because we are torn between the world and the word, we have one foot in and one foot in. If you want to be fully in the word, then believe the word. Be content. Forgive one another. Love one another. Be Happy for others.

Politics has also cause many of us to have one foot in and one foot out. Many of us are so caught up in politics that we end up not having our two feet planted firmly in the word of God. There is nothing wrong with voting and voicing your opinion but there is no need to become angry, upset, mad and throwing shade at other individuals. Yes some people have their political preference and sometimes you feel like responding to some of the things they say. Be very careful with how you are dealing with politics in your life. Do not allow it to become your master otherwise you will be controlled by politics and you may end up serving the political master and not God.

How to keep two feet in?

Remind yourself daily not to conform to the world. Do not allow the world to set standards for you. Based your standards on the word of God and maintain those standards. Another way to keep your two feet in is to set your mind on the things of God. If you preoccupied your mind with the things of this world you will easily end up with one foot in and one foot out. Therefore think of those things that are above and not on those things that are of the world. These things of the world are temporary but the things of above are eternal.

No one is perfect and you will be tempted. Be alert, stay strong and keep the faith.

Conclusion

I encourage all of us to examine ourselves daily and try not to be too involved in the world even though you are living in this world. I encourage you to ask God to strengthen your spirit daily because we know the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Now if you fall, still get up and put your two feet in the word of God.
