“You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.” Matthew 24:6-7 NIV

Introduction

Last week, while driving, my oil light was on indicating that I need to check the oil. Of course, I ignored the warning sign for at least two days because I knew I changed the oil recently. On the second day the car suddenly start making a lot of noise so I decided to pull over to the nearest gas station and the attendant said that the car was depleted of oil.

While I did fill up the car with oil, the car continued with so much noise so I called my mechanic to investigate the matter. Apparently it was too late as the engine for my car was completely damaged. As a result of not paying attention to the oil warning signs, I had to rent a car and I also have to purchase a new engine. All of this unbudgeted expenditure could have been avoided if only I heeded to the warning sign.

Like the above scenario, many of us see the warning signs in our spiritual lives but continue to ignore them and as a result face adverse consequences. Some of us even have warning signs regarding the conditions of our health but we ignore them. Unfortunately, some people have died without taking heed to the warning signs, however for those of us are still alive, there is still hope so take heed to the warning signs.

Warning Signs for the Second Coming

Unlike any other book written, the Bible has everything in it and whatever is happening today in the world is expected based on what it is written in the Bible. Somehow, many of us panic or afraid when some of these signs are taking place but these things are expected as they are the warnings signs of the second coming of our Lord.

There are so many wars taking place and there are rumours of wars taking place. Nations will rise against nations, kingdoms against kingdoms. Many people will turn away from the faith and this is pronounced today. In fact the very nation that taught us Christianity is moving away from the faith. People are hating and betraying each other. False prophets are on the increase and unfortunately despite the warning of this, many of us are being deceived by these false prophets. Another sign is the preaching of the gospel to the whole world. While there are some places that perhaps have not heard the gospel but today more than ever, the gospel is being preached and delivered to the whole world through modern technology.

Conclusion

Friends, the writing is on the wall. We are living in the last days. I know growing up we heard the same thing but we are closer now than ever for the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. We have an opportunity to commit to the Lord now while we are alive. If you die today or tomorrow without accepting him, it will be too late.
