A courageous and inspirational woman of God

Introduction

I never imagined I would be writing this tribute to a woman of God whom I admired greatly. I wish I had done this before the tragic event took place on Wednesday January 15^th, 2025. I am still in shock and cannot accept the fact that she is gone and how it happened. It is true saying give people their flowers while they are alive.

I do hope this article encourages and inspires her family and friends. Prophetess Elva Talbot was a dynamic preacher. She knew the word of God and she knew how to deliver the word. She had a way of capturing your attention.

Who is Elva Talbot?

Prophetess Elva Talbot was born on the island of Salt Cay to Apostle Oscar Talbot and the late Ophelia Smith-Talbot. She was the fourth child of twelve children. Prophetess Talbot became a Christian at the tender age of 13. She grew up in the Church of God of prophecy. However, later in life, she helped to establish other churches on the island of Providenciales. Eventually, she formed her own ministry called Bread from Heaven Ministry, where she preached the gospel not only in the Turks and Caicos Islands but throughout the world in places such as Africa, Guyana, Dominican Republic, India and Pakistan. She surely lived up to the scripture in Matthew 28:19 “Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of Father, Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

She had the call of God upon her life, and she utilized her gifts and taught others how to us their gifts. In fact, she is the author of the book “Discover your spiritual gifts and calling”.

She was also very proficient in Spanish which came so handy when her brother Oscar was in the hospital in the Dominican Republic.

She was a very humble person and never bragged about what she did.

The impact she made

My wife Joanna was very close with Prophetess Talbot and that is how I got to know her even better.  Pastor Talbot had a women’s ministry called the Pearl where she was able to bring women from different ministries together and share the word of God. There were many occasions I would listen with my wife, and I found the conversations so impactful not just for women but for men too. She also had a vibrant youth ministry impacting and transforming the young people.

Her ministry used to have special services throughout the year and my wife, and I would make sure that we attend at least one night. Anybody that knows me knows that I don’t like to stay in the same place for a long time but when I used to go and listen to Prophetess Talbot, I never wanted to leave the church. Prophetess was one of the first people to give me an opportunity to speak at her ministry about money management.

Prophetess Talbot groomed and raised twenty-two pastors throughout the world. Her life was not about her but about other people.

Conclusion

It was very unfortunate that she was murdered. Based on the allegations, it is evident and proof that what we are going though in the Turks and Caicos is an encounter with the demonic forces. It is a spiritual battle, and some people are being used by Satan to kill and destroy others. No politician can fix it. We must turn to God. I do hope that because of the murder of our beloved friend, that this incident will open our eyes and realize there is a spiritual battle going on. I hope we commit to God.

Rest in Peace Prophetess Talbot.  I believe you have gone before your time but the time that you spent here on this earth was well spent. You inspired and transformed so many lives on this earth. You did not bury your gifts. You activated them and used them to make a difference.

Despite how you left this earth, I know you are in better place with God.
