“Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
    and gave him the name that is above every name.” (Philippians 2:9)

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”(Colossians 3:17)

Introduction

The name of Jesus is above every other name. His name is above the state of your finances. His name is above sicknesses. His name is above diseases.  His name is above your enemies. His name is above your employer. His name is above the politicians.

His name is so powerful that every knee shall bow at his name. His name is so powerful that healing takes place. His name is powerful that demons tremble and flee. His name is so powerful that prayers are answered.

Therefore whatever your situation is, call upon the name of Jesus and have faith that you will recover from that situation.

The meaning of the name Jesus

The name Jesus means Saviour for he will save his people from their sins (Matthew 1:21). Your boss cannot save you. Your job cannot save you. Your family cannot save you. Only Jesus can save you so call his name and he will save you from destruction.

Call the name of Jesus

Because he is our savior, call his name. In Acts 3, there was a man who was lame from birth and everyday this man would go to the gate to beg from those individuals who would go to the courts. Perhaps this man didn’t even think he can be healed and so he resorted to begging for money. Maybe some of us are in the same predicament as this man but we are asking for the wrong thing. As Peter and John were about to enter, this man asked them for money. Peter replied and told the man he did not have any silver or gold but what he has he will give it to him. Peter therefore declared to this man to walk in the name of Jesus. Peter took him by the right hand, held him and the man began to walk.

My friends call upon the name of Jesus to walk out of your situation. Christians, when you are passing by individuals, use what you have. Call upon the name of Jesus so that healing can take place. Call upon the name of Jesus so that salvation can take place. Call upon the name of Jesus so that victory can take place. Call the name of Jesus for protection. Call his name for every situation.

Mark 16:17-19  states  And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; ¹⁸ they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”

Do not call his name in vain

While I encourage you to call the name of Jesus for your situation, please do not call his name in vain. Do not be cursing and swearing using his name. The word of God does not want us to call the name of the Lord in vain. Honour the name of the Jesus and use it to bring about positive changes in your life and in the lives of others.

Conclusion

In Acts 4, the rulers and elders saw the impact that the name of Jesus was doing that they warned Peter and John not to speak in the name of Jesus anymore. Today the name of Jesus cannot be spoken in schools and in the work place in some countries. However, the moment you stop using the name of Jesus will be the moment your world will crumble. Why do you think there are so many issues in the world? These issues however can be corrected and resolved if we have faith and call on the name of Jesus.
