Because of the inherent human nature in us, when we see someone or something that is bigger than us especially if it is our enemy or competition, sometimes we feel intimidated and become afraid. Do not let the size of your enemy deter you from fulfilling your purpose. Stay Focus. If you are a Christian, then you have the assurance that the Holy Spirit is living within you and the word said Greater is he that is in you then he that is in the World. (1 John 4:4). If you are not a Christian then now is the time to commit your life to the Lord. The Lord in turn will protect you from the enemy. With that said, there is no need to be afraid due to the size of your enemy. In fact, you should never be afraid for God has not given you a spirit of Fear but of power, love and sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7).
In the story about David and Goliath, the Israelites were afraid of Goliath because of his size. They fled whenever they saw him. David however was different and knew that the Lord was on his side. He had experiences in the past with the Lord where the Lord rescued him from the paws of Lion and the paws of Tiger and so David was confident that the same Lord can rescue him from this big Goliath. With Faith, David went into the battlefield (without any protective clothing or major weapons) with a staff in his hand, five stones and his shepherd bag. On the other hand, Goliath was not only a giant over 9 ft but he also wore an armor (125 pounds) and had a sword, spear and javelin. David ran to face his enemy in the battle line and took a stone out of his bag and was able to destroy Goliath.
In this world, we are faced with threats from our enemy due the size of one’s physical structure, the size of one’s family as well as the size of one’s bank account. Some of you have small businesses or are considering opening a business but you are afraid because your competitors are so huge. Some of you are facing major sicknesses and illnesses in your lives. We want to run away from these giants and give up quickly and worry every night wondering how we are going to overcome them. Like David, many of us have had past experiences whereby the Lord rescued us but it seems every time we encounter a new giant in our lives, either we forget about the past rescues or the new giant simply looks so bigger than the past one that it looks it impossible to overcome.
If you know who you are in the LORD, then you will not be afraid about the size of your enemy or competition because you know that victory is yours. I know that many of us have doubts and think that this victory is only applicable to the Biblical days but I can assure you based on my personal experiences and other persons’ experiences that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8).
The issue is that we are fearful and we look at things in the natural realm and because we are afraid, our faith decreases. In order to win any battle, you must have faith. Do not let size fool you. The size of your enemy or competition is a distraction. Do not focus on that. Focus and adhere to God’s instructions (the Bible) and you will be victorious.
I conclude with 2 Chronicles 20:17: You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.’”
