Do not be ungrateful. Be thankful. Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving pray

Do not be ungrateful. Be thankful. Happy Thanksgiving!

Introduction

This week, we will be celebrating Thanksgiving in the USA and the Turks and Caicos Islands. In the USA, this celebration honours the Pilgrims after their first harvest in October 1621. While there may be arguments back and forth as to how, who and why this holiday is being celebrated, the fact is, a day has been set aside to give thanks.

I believe many of us give thanks on a daily basis. However, some of us are very ungrateful and take so many people and things for granted.  I hope that as we gather together with friends and family, that we will truly put aside our differences and be thankful for the people and things in our lives

God

As we give thanks this week, do not forget to thank God. In fact, we should always thank him first. God made ways possible that seem impossible. He protects us from destruction. He guides and leads us in the right path. He is not like no other. He will never let you down. He will never leave you.

Parents

Be thankful for your parents. I know sometimes they may have been rough on you but they were only looking out for your best interest and some of them did not want you to repeat the same mistakes they made. Some parents abort their children but your parents made a decision to allow you to be a part of this world even though this world is in chaos. You have an opportunity to pursue the calling that you were purposed to do. Be thankful.

Spouse

Be thankful for your spouse. Do not take them for granted. Show them appreciation. Do not cause anyone or anything to come between you. Appreciate the differences that you and your spouse have. It is because of those differences you are complete.

Children

Give thanks for your children. I know you had high expectations for some of them and they did not turn out the way you expected them to turn out. In spite of this, still be thankful and believe in hope and speak into existence the way you want your children to become. Always be thankful. There are so many people who wish they had children.

Family and Friends

Be thankful for your family and friends. I know some of them get on your last nerve, but they will be there for you when no one else will be. It is not coincidence they are part of your life so be thankful.

Country

Be thankful for the country that you reside in. You may not have been born here but you reside there for a reason. Do not badmouth the country that is providing you with so much opportunities. Be grateful. For those of us who were born in the country, give God thanks for blessing us.

Life

Be thankful for your life. While some of us may wish our lives were better financially, spiritually or healthier, still be thankful. There are others who are worse off than you. Whatever you are facing in your life, be thankful. Don’t focus on what you are going through but rather focus on where you are going.

Conclusion

I know it is so easy to tell someone to be thankful. However the world of so many people, appears to be upside down and you do not see what there is to be thankful about.

As we celebrate Thanksgiving this week, let us adopt a new attitude by being grateful for all things and people in our lives.
