If you ask God for anything, let it be Wisdom. Wisdom is better than All the Material Things.

For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it. Proverbs 8:11

Introduction

I know many times we ask God for wealth and other material things and when we get these things, we do not know what to do with them and as a result these things may just become meaningless. The key for managing anything is to have wisdom which is exemplified in the story of King Solomon.

When Solomon became King, he ask the Lord for a discerning heart because he did not know how to carry out his duties as King. The Lord was pleased with his request and gave him not only wisdom but other things he did not ask for such as wealth and power.

What is Wisdom?

I am quite sure you have heard the phrase “Knowledge is Power”. However, what is more powerful, is the application of the knowledge that you have acquired in the right way which is the definition of Wisdom.  For example, some people can memorize the Bible in and out but they do not apply what they know from the Bible. Some people have completed their degree of study but not applying their acquired knowledge.

Some Benefits of having wisdom

The Bible says money answers all things but if you do not have wisdom in dealing with money, it will not answer all things. That money can come in one hand and leave the next hand in a heartbeat without achieving anything satisfying. Some people have so much access to power but yet lack wisdom in solving issues.

Once you have wisdom, you are on the right track of happiness, protection, peace and a great life. If you are a leader with no experience but have godly wisdom, you can become the best leader ever. . If you have godly wisdom, you will know what to say, how to say and when to say. If you have godly wisdom, you will be able to manage your finances, your health and your family better. According to Proverbs 9:11, because of wisdom, your days will be many and years will be added to your life.

How to Get Wisdom?

The first way to get wisdom is to simply ask God. James 1:5 states that “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”

Another way to get wisdom is to fear the Lord. The word of the Lord states that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. You fear the Lord by doing what the word of God says.

Conclusion

Are you in positons and don’t know what to do? Do you have things at your disposal and don’t know what to do with them? Have you been living on this earth for so many years, not knowing what to do? Are you facing issues in your career or family life? Rather than asking God to bless you with material things, ask God for wisdom in all of the aforementioned situations.

No matter what people try to take away from you, they cannot take away your wisdom. If you have wisdom, you are richer than gold.
