Keep Praying. A change will take place.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God”. (Philippians 4:6)

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land”. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective”. (James 5:16)

Introduction

I know it can be very discouraging at times that your prayer may seem to go unnoticed or unanswered. However, the word of God states that the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. Therefore, continue to pray at all times, in the good season and in the bad season. Believe that whatever you pray for you will receive it. Your prayer may not be answered immediately but that does not mean God has rejected your requests. Keep praying. A change got to take place. A change will take place. Do not give up. Some of you may think that God already knows what you need so why pray and if you pray why pray all of the time. The Bible tells us to always pray. In fact, praying is an act of having faith in God.

The Parable of the Persistent Widow

In Luke 18, with the parable of the persistent widow, Jesus demonstrated to his disciples that they should always pray and they should not give up. In the parable, a widow kept bothering a judge to seek wisdom but for some time the judge refused the widow’s request. Eventually though, the judge who didn’t fear God honoured her request because she kept bothering him. Now think about this, a judge who did not care about people granted this widow her request, don’t you think that the God we serve that loves us and cares about us will not honour our prayer requests.  In fact in this scripture, God is saying that he too will see that the chosen ones get justice who cry out to him day and night. Therefore, keep praying because a change will take place.

Why Pray?

First of all, the definition of prayer is making requests to God and giving him thanks. However, many persons may ask “Why Pray?  My response to this question is, “What do you think will happen if you do not pray”? If you want something shouldn’t you ask for it? Didn’t the Bible instruct us to make our requests known to God? Didn’t Jesus pray when he was on earth?

When you pray, you feel at peace and comfort.

When you pray, you are connecting and focusing on God.

When you pray, you are stepping into the spiritual realm.

When you pray, healing takes place.

When you pray, revival takes place.

When you pray, opportunities and breakthroughs take place.

How to Pray

Keep it simple. No need to use fancy words or to be seen by others.

Be specific.

Give God thanks when you pray.

Repeat the word of God in your prayer.

Have faith when you pray.

Don’t have any unforgiveness in your heart.

Don’t pray with wrong motive in that you may squander it on pleasure.

Conclusion

I know some of you may feel like you are wasting your time praying but the truth of the matter is, prayer is a vital part of our walk with God. We must therefore, learn to be effective in our prayer. Prayer is a demonstration of our faith and there is power in prayer. I have seen God work things out for me and others because of prayer. He can do it for you too and he will do it for you. Keep praying. Don’t ever stop.
