Introduction

Some of the greatest challenges you will face as a leader, or an individual is the ability to manage your finances and manage people effectively.  That is why it is very important that when individuals are given managerial positions, make sure they are equipped with managerial skills. Enroll in some management classes to help you to be successful or recruit someone to help you or guide you in managing people and your finances. Some people are natural with management, but others will have to be trained.

Manage people

As a leader, if you do not manage properly, you will find yourself preoccupying most of your time dealing with human resources issues. You must deal with people on a regular basis, and you must be honest with them. If they are not performing, tell them. Some of us do not want to hurt anyone’s feelings and some of the people we manage are our friends and family and so it sort of interferes with the effective management of people. If you do not manage people properly, it will not only hurt you, but it will also jeopardize the entire organization.

Employees must know up front what is expected of them. If they deviate from the standards of the company and they are not performing, deal with it immediately. Do not procrastinate otherwise the issues become overdue and furthermore if you do not deal with the issue, you may be implying to the employee that what they are doing is fine. You must be very careful with this, otherwise some employees will take advantage of the situation. If you find it difficult to manage people, then make sure you bring in your human resources manager. If you do not have a human resources person, then bring in a third party.

Do not let anyone intimidate you or make you fearful otherwise it will be a reflection of you of as a leader and you may create a culture in your organization where everyone will have their own way.

Managing finances

Finances are critical for an individual and in an organization. If you do not manage the finances properly, it can jeopardize you. The key to managing your finances is to have a budget, stick to your budget and control yourself. You do not want to be in a situation where you have mismanaged your finances, and you find yourself having to borrow to make up for the mismanagement. This can be avoided if you manage your finances properly.

Conclusion

Many things in life can be improved if we manage them properly. I encourage you to enroll in a management course. If you are currently in college, it does not hurt to enroll in management courses because one day, you will be in a leadership position and that degree in your subject area alone will not help you to be a great manager.
