No One is Better Than You and You are Not Better Than Anyone.
You are All One in Christ.
28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:28
Introduction
More than half of my life,I suffered frominferiority complex. I thought other people were superior to me, I did not like the way I looked, I did not like my dark completionand so I did notlove myself. Consequently, I kept a very low profile but if you see me, I would always smile and looked happy even though I felt insignificant. It took me years to realize that I am wonderfully and fearfully made and that I am Great and that no one is better than me nor am I am better than anyone else. Of course, now and then, the Devil tries to remind me of my past feelings but I am delivered because I know who I am. I know there are others who are feeling the same way I used to feel and so this article is for you.
The Rich, The Poor
In most communities throughout the world, if you are rich, you get special attention, special treatment, and great respect and you live in a certain area. The rich may have bigger homes, more money on the bank account, brand name items and vehicles but those things do not make them better than you. The poor is neglected, look down upon in a condescending manner and is paid no attention. However, the Bible clearly demonstrates that we should not favour rich over poor and it is the poor who is rich in faith as some rich people put all of their faith and confidence in their money.
James 2: 5-75 Listen, my dear brothers and sisters! Didn’t God choose poor people in the world to become rich in faith and to receive the kingdom that he promised to those who love him? 6 Yet, you show no respect to poor people. Don’t rich people oppress you and drag you into court? 7 Don’t they curse the good name of Jesus, the name that was used to bless you?
The rich can get sick and their wealth may not have healed them. They would be in the same position as the poor who is sick. A rich person who does not know the Lord as their savior will go to hell as his wealth will not buy him into heaven.
The Colour Factor
I do not know why God made us in different shades of colour but I do know that he made all of us in his image and we came from one man and woman named Adam and Eve and therefore no one is better than the other. Some folks think they are better than others simply because of colour and even within the black race, some light skinned folks think they are better than some dark-skinned folks. As a result of the colour factor, some dark-skinned folks are bleaching themselves away to become light skinned. Be content with your colour. You were created by God. You are unique and special.
From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. Acts 17:26
I cannot explain why we have different colours given that we came from the same person but I do know we all spoke the same language but were later scattered abroad in different parts of the world after some of our ancestors try to build the Tower of Babel.
The Effects of Inferiority Complex and What You Can do to Improve
Feeling Inferior can lead to depression, low self-esteem, low confidence, pretending to be somebody you are not, “sucking” up to individuals, and sometimes possibly suicidal thoughts.
The truth of the matter is, you need to wake up and realize that we are all one in Christ. This is the first step in believing that no one is better than you.
Do not compare yourself to others and don’t get caught up in the external physical features of someone. Do not be fool by colour. Being lighter skin does not mean someone is better than you. It is what is inside of you that makes you a beautiful person. “The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” Luke 6:45
Being rich in money will not get you to heaven. Rich people may not have financial problems but they have other issues. If you do not know the Lord as your savior, get to know him and become rich in his word and then live on his word that he has plans to prosper you.
Every day throughout the day, tell yourself you are great and that no one is better than you.
Advice to Those who think they are Superior to Others
If you did not know before, you now know that you are not better than anyone because of your colour, money, wealth and any other status. You came from the same people that all of us came from. Therefore, be humble if you are not. Romans 12:3 states
“For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.”
If you really want to make a difference, then help those in need rather than spending a lot of money on material things for yourself that you cannot take with you to heaven. I am convinced if the rich folks would help the poor folks there would be no poor people in this world.
Look at people as individuals, not black and white, poor and rich but rather children of God. After all, we came from one family so treat everyone as family.
Move away from the stereotypes associated with the status of an individual. These stereotypes are myths. Once you get to know individuals, you will realize there is no difference among us.
Conclusion
The Bible clearly states that all of us came from one man. We all have issues in our lives despite our status. We have overlooked some great people in our society simply because of their status. We must learn to treat all people with respect. It is the class system in society that caused many of us to feel inferior. If you do not know who you are, you will fall into the trap of inferiority complex. I hope that this article helps someone. My article is not for self-pity and attention. The intention of my article is to tell my story to influence others, to provide hope and inspiration to others. I came from a “poor” family and obviously I am very dark. However, I am a very important person and you are a very important person. No one is better than me. No one is better than you. You and I are not better than anyone. We are all one in Christ.
