You do not have to publicize everything you do for others.
Introduction
Every day, lives are being impacted or touched by the acts of others. Some people chose to publicize what they do while others are working behind the scenes getting things done without the public knowing.
Now there are many individuals and companies that publicize what they do as part of their marketing strategy. They want to let the public know that they are making a difference in the community and in so doing, they bring awareness about the company which in turn may generate additional revenue.
There are also some non-profit organizations that publicize what they do to educate and bring awareness about a situation.
On the other hand, there are some that feel that they must get praise and recognition from others, so they publicize what they do. They also want people to know that they are doing something, and it makes them feel important. Sometimes, this type of publicity does not appear genuine. This is what this article is about and that is why it is best to work behind the scenes.
Work behind the scenes
Many people are transforming the lives of others by working behind the scenes. I applaud those individuals who are living like this. There are some leaders and employees who are doing so much behind the scenes. They don’t get credit for what they do and some of them don’t want credit, they just want to help resolve an issue. These kinds of individuals are more than likely very sincere.
When you work behind the scenes, you may accomplish more because if you are doing things for publicity’s sake, you may lose your focus and become distracted.
Some people also believe that their noise making in public results in things getting done. They don’t realize or refuse to realize that there are some people working behind the scenes to address those same issues.
Working behind the scenes also creates a level of trust. Trusting people is a challenge for many of us but when someone does something for someone and that person does not broadcast what he or she does, a level of trust is established.
Don’t publicize everything.
One thing I like about the Bible is that it addresses and provides answers to everything.
Matthew 6:1-4 state “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. So, when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your father, who sees what is done in secret, will happen to you.
Conclusion
We don’t have to live our lives to get recognition from others. Believe in what you do and make a difference in the lives of others without seeking the praises of others. It is ok if the public does not know what you are doing. I think one of the greatest satisfactions in life is making a difference in the lives of others and doing so with a sincere heart.
