Stay Connected to the right source.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. (John 15:5)

Introduction

Do you find yourself preoccupied with so much that it leads you to a disconnection with your family, friends and more importantly God?  Sometimes we say the reason we are disconnected is due to the fact they we have drifted apart. Well the reason we have drifted apart is because we did not stay connected. We just don’t have the time to connect with our family and friends as we are busy doing other things.

The same scenario applies in our spiritual lives. It is important for us to stay connected to God. If we don’t stay connected to God, we can easily fall into temptation and become connected to the Enemy.

Be fully charged

Whenever your battery in your phone, or laptop is low, you charge it because you want to stay connected. To be on the safe side, some people keep their gadgets plug in until they are fully charged so they do not lose connection while using them.

One of the reasons we fail in our Christian life is because we are not fully grounded or fully charged in the word of God. We have to stay connected to God by reading the word, meditating on the word and applying the word. If we don’t, we face the risk of weakening our relationship with God and consequently become disconnected. When we become disconnected, you become powerless and the enemy can come into your life affecting your social life, your mental life, your spiritual life, your financial life and your health. In order to avoid this impact , stay fully charged and fully grounded in the word of God.

Be focused

I don’t know about you but sometimes I try to do multiple things at one time. Quite frankly it is a challenge to stay connected and focused on different things at one time. You may be watching a sermon, you may be doing your work, you may be listening to music, you may be cooking, and you may be helping the children with their homework. However, how can you remained focused if you are doing all of these things at one time. The best thing to do is prioritize and focused on one thing at time otherwise you may become distracted and disconnected. In fact, you may not achieve any of your goals you set out to do.

In church services, some of us become disconnected (I am guilty). While the preaching and praise and worship are going, some of us are on Facebook or doing something else.

Some of us have two gadgets, we are listening to something on one and the something else on the other. How can you remained focused and stay connected.

Keep the communication line open

In order to stay connected, keep the communication lines open. To digest this point, think about your spouse, your family and friends. A husband may not be communicating enough with his wife but another man may. Likewise, a wife may not be communicating enough with her husband but another woman may.  This may result in a disconnection in the relationship and sometimes a divorce.

Always communicate otherwise, you will become disconnected and your spouse, family and friends will become like strangers and will be replaced with someone else.

If your friends and family don’t take the initiative to reach out to you then you be proactive and reach out to them. Due to personal reasons, some of us may want to keep a distance, however, your family should not be like strangers. You cannot change your family so stay connected with them.

In our walk with Christ, we must communicate frequently with God. Do so on a daily basis. Do not wait until you need something or get in trouble. Talk to God all of the time and about anything. If you don’t, you may unknowingly replace God with someone or something else and thus become disconnected.

Conclusion

John 15:5 stated that “I am the vine; you are the branches, if you remain in me and me in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”  If we stay connected with God, we will bear much fruit because if we don’t, we cannot do much.

You may think you need to be connected to the rich and those that are in authoritative positions to get what you need. Think again. Stay connected to the right source which is Jesus Christ. If you stay connected with him, you will get everything that you need.
