This situation is temporary!

For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 2 Corinthians 4:17

Introduction

I know 2020 so far has been an uneventful year for all of us. No one saw this coming and perhaps if we did, some of us would have change our financial lifestyles prior to COVID 19. In countries such as Turks and Caicos where there is one main driver of the economy, there is so much uncertainty. As a result of the uncertainty and a collapse of the economy, hotels were forced to delay their opening and employees were laid off.  In addition to the impact of COVID 19, there were also many friends and families who were faced with illnesses, deaths, spiritual and physical attacks. The struggle is real financially, mentally and spiritually.

Despite what you are going through and despite how there seems to be no end to your circumstances, rest assured that whatever you are going through will not last forever. This is temporary.

As you reflect on your current situation, reflect on your past and you will realize what you went through in the past was temporary and you can now tell your story to inspire others. Well the same thing applies to your current situation. It is temporary and you will come out successfully.

Storms are temporary

The Hurricane Season is temporary and is from June to November. However, when we go through an actual hurricane, it feels like it will last forever. Likewise, the four seasons of spring, summer, fall and winter are temporary but when they occur they feel like forever. The good thing about these storms is that we are aware of the time frame and so we expect them.

Pandemics are temporary

We are currently facing the COVID 19 pandemic and it seems as if there is no end to COVID 19 but COVID 19 is temporary. The Spanish flu pandemic lasted from February 18th to April 1920 and the point is, it was not permanent.

Economic cycles are temporary

The economic cycles of the world are temporary. You will go through periods of economic boom, recession, slow down and recovery. Therefore an economic boom does not last forever and a recession does not last forever. The economic challenges that we are facing today primarily as a result of COVID 19 are temporary. Don’t look down on individuals and businesses that do not have much now. Don’t put individuals and businesses on a pedestal because they have much. In my 50 years on this earth, I have seen many tides turned in that those who were poor became rich and those who were rich became poor.

Your trials and temptations are temporary

Many of us are facing trials and temptations but these things are temporary. In fact you should expect trials and temptations. The key thing is, you need to know is how to deal with trials and temptations. Remember they do not last forever and the word of Lord says consider it joy when you face trials of many kinds.

Your life on this present earth is temporary

As adults, we go through a life cycle from a baby, to a child, then to an adolescence and eventually an adult. The expected life span of an adult is 70 years old, however, individuals die at different stages of their lives but the point is we are not on this earth forever even though many of us act and live as if we will live forever.

Conclusion

I hope by now you will agree with me that everything in life is temporary. Storms come and go. Pandemics come and go, trials come and go economic booms and recessions come and go. In order to live through these temporary situations, be patient and be prepared.

Be Patient

Because our situations are temporary we have to learn to be patient.  James 2:3-4 states that “ because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

As a result of being patient, you will be able to relax and make sound decisions. Hopefully you will not worry because you will know what you are going through is temporary.

Be Prepared

In all of our situations, be prepared even though some of our situations come upon us surprisingly. Be prepared by giving your life to the Lord. Be prepared by eating healthy. Be prepared by not spending everything you have. Be prepared by following the advice of professionals and of course the word of God.
