Use your authority!

“ I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.” Luke 10:19

“When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases.” Luke 9:1

Introduction

In the workplace, managers have authority over their subordinates. In the home, the parents have authority over their children. In the classroom, the teachers have authority over the children. In the court room, the judge has the authority. In politics, the leaders have authority. Based on the aforementioned scenarios, only certain individuals have authority. Of course these individuals use their authority to accomplish the necessary tasks required.

However, in the Kingdom of God, the authority does not rest with just certain individuals because this authority belongs to God and God has given all Christians authority. If you are a child of God, believe in God and have a relationship with God, you have spiritual authority over the Devil. Because this is indeed the case, then why do we act like the enemy has authority over you? Therefore, use your spiritual authority to overcome the power of the enemy. Use your authority to drive out all demons. Use your authority to cure diseases.

Authority over the power of the enemy

The enemy will try you to attack you all around, left and right, front and back but you have authority over the power of the enemy for greater is he that is in you then he that is in the world. Stop being afraid to use your authority over the enemy. In fact, if you don’t use your authority, you may not be able to resist him and he will try to take control of your life. One of the most powerful tools to use to exert authority over the enemy is the word of God. Speak the word of God daily and frequently throughout the day. The word of God says in James 4:7 “submit yourselves to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you.”

Authority to drive out demons

You have authority in the name of Jesus to drive out demons. This demonic thing is real and a lot of people don’t talk about it but it exists. There are many people that are possessed and influenced by demonic forces. Some strange and unnatural things are happening to so many individuals. Sometimes, the way the demons are manifested, it appears that individuals are losing their minds. However, these individuals can be restored. For instance, in Mark 5, there was a demon possessed man and Jesus was able to use his authority to drive the impure spirit from that man into a herd of pigs. You too have that authority to do likewise.

Authority to cure diseases

God has given his disciples authority to cure all diseases, not some diseases but all. However, it requires us to have faith. I know this is a challenge for many of us including myself.  Use your authority to speak to the conditions you are experiencing and believe that you are healed.

Conclusion

Now that you know the truth about the authority you have, use it to live a successful and prosperous Christian life. While this article covers three areas of authority (the enemy, demons and diseases), you have spiritual authority over any situation in your life.
